Marie Auvi designs are handcrafted with the purpose of making your soul shine & your personality pop. To maximize the lifespan of your pieces make sure you learn about the different metals, storage & care. Many of my affordable everyday pieces are filled, plated or vermeil. Tarnishing is a natural process as metals are reactive to their environment. How quickly they age depends on the metals, your body chemistry, the environment & how well you care for your pieces.
General metal information
Gold plating is a process where a thin layer of gold is bonded onto a base metal. Gold filled jewelry contains 100x more gold which has been mechanically pressure bonded to the core in layers. The karat refers to how much gold is in the piece. Gold vermeil refers to a thick layer of high quality gold plated to 925 sterling silver.
Jewelry care
Protect your jewelry by avoiding chemicals, high temperatures & moisture. Store your jewelry in a clean, dry & airtight space. Remove before exercising, sleeping, swimming or putting on lotions, perfumes or other products. An easy way to keep your piece clean is to gently wipe off any dirt or oils with a polishing cloth after wear. When storing, make sure your jewelry is separated by metal so your pieces don’t react with each other. Remember, your jewelry was made with love so handle with care!
