Ask Yourself First–Then Ask the Right People
When you’re making a big decision, it’s tempting to ask everyone around you for their opinion.
But here’s the truth:
You can’t please everyone. And you’re not supposed to.
When it came time to finalize the cover of my new book—picture or no picture—you wouldn’t believe the opinions that rolled in. Some were thoughtful. Some were a little judgmental. And for a minute, I started to question myself.
Then I realized: Whose advice was I actually listening to?
Were they people who truly understood my message?
Were they my raving fans—the people who had bought my book, gifted it, shared it, and lived it?
The answer was no.
So I turned to the people who got it—the ones who believed in the mission behind my work. And most importantly, I turned back to myself.
What did I want in my heart of hearts?
What felt authentic to me?
That’s what I chose.
Here’s your reminder:
Not everyone is qualified to advise you.
You don’t need permission to follow your gut.
You didn’t come to be universally approved—you came to be authentically YOU.
Trust yourself. Choose yourself. Surround yourself with the right voices.
You’re the one who has to live with your choices. Make sure they’re yours.
