Passions Are Not Distractions From Your Purpose

Years ago, when I was just starting my speaking career, I hired a consultant to help me with my content.

Earlier that day, I had posted a photo about how perfectly my lipstick matched my sweater. At the start of our meeting, he looked at me and said:

"Are we going to work on content today, or are you focused on matching your lipstick to your sweater?"

I laughed it off... But if I'm honest, it rattled me.

For a while, I started questioning what I shared. I worried that if I talked about fashion, makeup, cooking, family, or the little things I love, people wouldn't take me seriously in the corporate world.

I became so focused on being accepted as a keynote speaker and thought leader that I almost abandoned the very message I now teach: Be Who You Came To Be.

Be who you came to be.... Not JUST professionally....

Personally. Wholly. Authentically.

Because the truth is, your passions are not distractions from your purpose. There are clues to it.

Nothing is silly. I don't care if you work for NASA, run a company, lead a team, or love sharing lipstick recommendations. What lights you up matters. You matter.

One of the reasons I love Butterfly Goals so much is because they remind us that we are more than our job titles. They invite us to grow into the fullest version of ourselves - not just the most productive "career" one. So here's your Tuesday Tip:

What's something you love outside of work that makes you uniquely you?

Don't hide it. Share it.

The world doesn't need a more polished version of someone else. It needs the authentic version of you.

Keep shining YOUR authentic light. The world needs it.

Be who you came to be,

xo-Tara
