Love Will Guide You
Last week, we talked about self-awareness and the idea that you’re entitled to a bad day, but you’re not entitled to give someone else one.
We explored how authenticity isn’t a permission slip for bad behavior, and how emotional intelligence helps us choose how we show up, even when our feelings are messy.
This week, I want to take that message one step further.
Because emotional intelligence doesn’t just help us manage hard days ...it helps us lead with LOVE.
And since it’s Thanksgiving week, there’s no better time to remember the last sentence my grandmother wrote in the note that started this entire journey:
“Love will guide you.”
Love Will Guide You – If You Let It
Every meaningful connection, every healthy relationship, every breakthrough, every act of courage, every invention, every moment of healing ...love has been the force behind it.
Love isn’t soft.
Love isn’t passive.
Love isn’t weak.
Love is clarity.
Love is intention.
Love is choosing how you show up, not because you “feel like it,”
but because you care about the impact you make on the people around you.
When you root your decisions, your reactions, and your presence in love, something shifts:
You listen more.
You judge less.
You pause longer.
You assume a misunderstanding.
You extend grace - to others and to yourself.
Love elevates your patience, your empathy, your leadership, and your life.
Three Ways to Let Love Guide You This Week
1. Lead with Appreciation
The smallest “thank you” can dissolve someone’s stress.
Notice the humans around you ...at work, at home, in line at the store. I love saying "I'm grateful for you." or "I appreciate you."
2. Choose Presence Over Pressure
This week can be hectic.
Slow down, look up, breathe, be with the people you love.
Presence is love in action.
3. Respond With Intention
Before you react, ask yourself:
“What would love do here?”
It instantly shifts your tone, your mindset, and your energy.
A Thanksgiving Reminder
No matter what this year has looked like for you - the wins, the losses, the changes, the challenges - you are here, you are growing, and you are making an impact.
Thank you for being part of this community.
Thank you for sharing your stories with me.
Thank you for choosing to show up, learn, and lead differently.
As you head into the holiday…
Let love guide you.
Let gratitude steady you.
Let connection fill you.
And keep being who you came to be.
