Love Will Guide You
“Be who you came to be. Love will guide you.”
Those were the words my grandmother wrote in a note to my son the week he was born.
Just nine simple words.
At the time, I thought they were beautiful.
Today, I think they might be one of the greatest pieces of life advice I’ve ever heard.
The first part is the pursuit. Be who you came to be.
The second part is the path. Love will guide you.
What is love?
Most of us think of it as an emotion. A feeling. And it is.
We say things like…
“I love it here.”
“I loved today.”
“I love this song.”
“I love my family.”
“I love helping people.”
Love is the feeling that tells us, this matters. It’s the feeling that lights us up. It’s what gives us energy instead of draining it. I believe those moments aren’t random. They’re clues. They’re pointing us toward the life we were created to live.

Think about your career.
Most of us didn’t choose it simply because it paid well. Somewhere along the way, we loved something about it. Maybe you loved solving problems. Maybe you loved creating. Maybe you loved serving people, teaching, building, or leading.
Love came first.
Then came the promotions, the deadlines, the expectations, and all the boxes we thought we had to check.
Somewhere along the way, many of us stopped asking, “What do I love?” and started asking, “What should I do?”
That’s when we begin to lose ourselves.
If fulfillment is the destination… Love is the compass.
It quietly points us toward the people, experiences, and Butterfly Goals that help us become who we came to be.
So this week, instead of asking, “What’s the smartest next step?”
Ask yourself, “What do I love?”
Then trust it enough to take one imperfect step in that direction.
Because when you’re willing to follow what you love, you’ll often find it was leading you to who you were meant to become all along.
