You’re Not Wired to Be Happy, You’re Wired to Be Fulfilled
I haven’t written about this in a while… but it’s one of the essential ingredients to being who we came to be.
My 3-part methodology Create it. Own it. Live it. is the foundation of how we build a life we deserve and desire. And when I ask people how they want to create their life, 95% of the time they say this:
“I just want to be happy.”I get it. Who doesn’t?
But here’s the truth: You can’t just pull happiness out of thin air.
You can’t just choose happy. Trust me ... I’ve tried.
Happiness isn’t a switch you flip. It’s the byproduct of something deeper. You have to create it by focusing on what’s fulfilling.
Because it’s the fulfilling things ...yes, the hard things, the scary things, the courageous things that create the epic moments of real joy and success.
And here’s what I want you to know:
You’re not wired to be happy all the time.
Even when life is good, we get bored. We want a new challenge. A new goal. Something that matters. And that’s not a flaw. That’s your brain doing what it was designed to do.
Happiness is a feeling. Fulfillment is a fuel.
And emotional intelligence helps us tell the difference.
Here's what I mean:
Superheroes don’t chase happy...they chase purpose.
They rise to the moment because it’s right, not because it’s easy.
Rosa Parks didn’t stay in her seat to feel good.
She did it because it was necessary.
Rick and Dick Hoyt didn’t run over 1,000 races together for the fun of it. They did it so Rick could feel free.
“When we're running, I don’t feel handicapped.” – Rick Hoyt
That’s not comfort. That’s fulfillment. That’s legacy.
And this is where emotional intelligence matters most. It gives us the clarity to know when we’re chasing comfort… and the courage to choose something better.
So if you’re not happy right now… that doesn’t mean you’re broken.
It might mean you’re actually becoming.
You didn’t come to be happy all the time. You came to be fulfilled. You came to be who you came to be. Let that be enough this week.
Keep Shining - Be who you CAME to be.
